LEWIE TENORIO, Triathlete

“I really love Laolao Bay,” says Lewie Tenorio. “It’s the one place where I can be with nature and feel that there’s only me, the beach and the jungle.” As a triathlete, Tenorio bikes and runs the long stretch of rough road. As a husband and father, Laolao Bay is where he connects with his family. “I spend a lot of time here with my wife and three kids,” he says. “We just really enjoy the natural beauty, and the peace and quiet.”
Tenorio also values the bay for its place in history. “Laolao Bay is really important for cultural reasons,” he says. “When I’m at Laolao, I can feel that our Chamorro beginnings are here—and I wish to preserve that.”
His advice to beach users: “Act like the place is yours.” He says, “If you bring drinks and food here, take your trash home with you. Let’s keep Laolao Bay the way it should be—secluded, beautiful, and peaceful.”
